By-William Thomas Thompson Y2K-YEAR 2000-World in crisis 50 years of progress has brought us to the brink of disaster with our dependency on the computer beast that has got so smart that it is about to eat its master. Just 15 months from today, we will fall off the earth into complete chaos because of 2 missing simple figures, not three like 666 or 7 or even 12, but 2 like 19. The programmers of computer software back there may say they did this for space saving reasons but I say they were too lazy to put 19 in. that magic place so they could have easy rolled it over to the year of 2000 and another 1000 years. They may have thought they would get paid to do it but did not think that they could not do it. It may not pay to be too smart but it does pay to be honest. The obvious they have ignored. Let the bright and shining good old boys figure this one out. They can start over with a new system on January1, 2000 but cannot talk to or access any prior data or system software to operate the data to make it work. Just ask your great and friendly IBM representative, with all the answers of the past, what to do. Just don't hold your breath until you get the answer. Then we could ask the great wizard of all, Microsoft Bill Gates, but he doesn't have the answer either. You sure think it would be included in Windows 95 or 98 but there is no need to look, not even a warning. Where will we all be when we are computer free? The computer will zero back to January 1, 1900 before it was born and die there without one more check being paid or bill being made. A bank will keep deposits and not pay checks. Social Security checks will not be paid. Credit cards will not work. Doors will not open or close and credit bureaus will be out of business. Everyone will be clean of bad credit and good credit will have no credit. Cash registers will not work so buying or selling is back to hand. That iron eyeing Washington will be forever dead and buried so traffic cops aren’t able to check everybody out. Tickets will not be paid and tax will no longer be collected, all loans will add 100years interest. Dear Lord, may all people see that hope is only in thee. Terrible times are coming and we can see now. Let us prepare to be ready for the worst of confusion on earth, a time of grave challenge. This will relieve so many that are oppressed by the wrongful use of computer technology. There will be revenge on those who do profit from the boom of automation. Mr. Gates better hide his money, there will be lawsuits like locust in a field, and good things will also be, like no junk mail. The high flying stock market will sure not be. Stocks are not any good without a way to trade them. I can say to sell now and pocket the money but I think money will be no good. All those poor little rich people will need another God they can worship. All debt will be paid and no more federal aid. It is coming fast and who can last? Planes will not fly and ships shall not sail the world, trains will not run the rail. For more you can turn to Revelation16-16, for the culmination of all Bible prophecy given over history for 3,000 years. Then will man seek to know the truth. Then will men pay attention to prophecy but to late. There will suddenly be understanding but it will be too late for most, people devoid and desperate, which have lived their lovely life with selfish motives and taking away from neighbor, all for themselves.
